Creating a shared atrium that connects to the central green belt
Surrounded by mountains and farmland, Biomedical Park offers a scenic research and incubation environmentHow can architecture evolve to face future challenges?
Architecture as a Living Organism
The Biotech Center reimagines architecture as a living organism, drawing inspiration from the adaptability and phototropism of biological systems. Its dynamic slanted design emphasizes the shared atrium as a visual centerpiece and a functional guide for movement. Serving as a national biomedical research hub, the center not only represents Taiwan’s commitment to addressing future pandemics but also has a significant global impact, embodying resilience and innovation. Its critical role in pandemic preparedness underscores its importance on both a national and international scale.
Blending Nature and Functionality
The parametric façade reflects the rhythm of cells growing toward light, symbolizing vitality and growth. Optimized through AI algorithms, strategically placed window modules provide effective shading and energy efficiency. Materials such as modular aluminum panels, granite, and low-E glass enhance sustainability while maximizing natural light. The high-ceilinged central atrium fosters collaboration and innovation through flexible, human-centered spaces that prioritize the comfort and needs of researchers.
A Vision for Global Impact
The Biotech Center is more than a research facility; it is a global symbol of resilience and innovation. Seamlessly integrating science, culture, and nature demonstrates Taiwan’s leadership in health and sustainability. As a forward-thinking model, the center offers a blueprint for addressing global challenges and inspires similar initiatives worldwide. Beyond its local impact, it is a beacon of hope for the international community.
